Cannon Beach Oregon is one of the most picturesque strips of coastline in the Northwest. The huge Haystack rock sits in the water near enough to shore that at low tide you can walk out to it. You might remember it in the beach scenes from the movie “The Goonies.” In town there are many hotels and houses to rent for a great vacation and family getaway. The town itself is quaint and well manicured and features a number of unique shops, galleries and some really nice restaurants. I really liked the take out at the Ecola Seafoods Restaurant and Market.

We found this town so inviting that we ventured into the city library to make this a working vacation. A large room devoted to children’s books was a delight to find. The library’s manager Buddy Anderson was friendly and welcoming to the idea of including our books in their collection. This in turn became an invitation to return and do a reading for the kids. An absolute treat we look forward to.

We want to thank the Cannon Beach library for their warm reception and encouragement. Such a strategic location so full of charm will make for an easy return visit.
